I am Dr. Richard Vasques, Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering in the Nuclear Engineering Graduate Program within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University. My research develops advanced mathematical and numerical methods in reactor physics and particle transport theory, with applications extending into medical physics, atmospheric radiative transfer, and computer graphics.
My group at Ohio State has produced seven doctoral graduates and three postdoctoral scholars, with placements at Idaho National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, X-energy, Xcimer Energy Corporation, and Holtec International, among others, as well as postdoctoral and faculty positions at universities in the United States and Brazil. My research has been supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Department of State, and Brazil's national research agencies.
